Distributed Energy Resources/Solar Systems

Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative (FLEC) partners with its Members to accommodate their interconnection of Distributed Energy Resources (DER).  FLEC partners with its Members to ensure safe operation of all DER installations.  Solar is the primary type of DER installed on FLEC’s electric grid.

FLEC will make one courtesy (no charge) visit prior to any DER installation to assist Members and their installer in preparing plans for the installation that will meet FLEC requirements.  Email to SOLAR@flec.org to make this appointment.

PLEASE REFER TO THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS:

Note that an Interconnection Agreement IS REQUIRED for all grid tied DER installations of all types.  The Small Solar Interconnection Agreement is provided via the link above.  Applicants must fill out the “Application” portion (last two pages) of the Agreement and submit with their Application Fee of $500.00.

All DER installations are subject to the requirements of the National Electrical Code (NEC), and shall be inspected by the State of Tennessee Deputy Electrical Inspector prior to parallel operation with the grid.

FLEC requires testing of all DER systems by FLEC personnel to ensure proper operation of automatically disconnecting equipment.  Testing shall be performed prior to initial parallel operation and periodically at FLEC’s discretion.

Improperly installed DER systems are a danger to the health, safety, and welfare of the general public and FLEC employees.

Members that make interconnection of any DER system that is grid tied without making proper application are subject to immediate disconnection from the grid.
