USIC Now Conducting Underground Locates

7/7/2016

Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative (FLEC) is now utilizing a contractor, USIC to perform the service of locating and marking of existing underground power lines.  Upon request through the Tennessee 8-1-1 System (i.e. by phoning 8-1-1 and filing out a request for the location of underground utilities), Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative members will activate USIC to assist in this needed safety step.  FLEC encourages all of its members and those who intend to dig to “CALL BEFORE YOU DIG”.  By calling before digging you could keep someone from being harmed or causing damage to underground utilities.  Should you not call before digging, you could be charged a fine for the damages and even face criminal charges, depending on the damages or injuries involved.  The Cooperative is required to locate and mark its underground utilities by state and national guidelines.  PLEASE CALL 8-1-1, when you plan on doing any excavating or digging.

The contractors will be utilizing vehicles marked with the USIC logo clearly marked on them.  At no time should any of these contract employees ask to come into your home.  As always, please notify FLEC of any concerns you may have in regard to persons acting on your Cooperative’s behalf.  The Cooperative holds the trust you have of our efforts to a high standard and do not wish to ever violate the high ethical standards we have maintained for over 75 years.

Any questions can be addressed by calling FLEC’s offices at 1-877-353-2674, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  This institution is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
