Three upcoming meetings, but no elections

8/15/2013

Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative (FLEC) will be conducting district meetings this year, but not elections.  The District 2 meeting will be at the Greenback Community Center in Greenback on Monday, August 26th.  The District 5 meeting will be at the Friendsville School in Friendsville on Thursday, August 29th.  The District 8 meeting will be at the Madisonville Primary School in Madisonville on Tuesday, August 27th.  Look for the FLEC logo on signs displayed at the events to help locate the meetings.  Due to only incumbent director qualifications, there will be no elections this year.  The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the meetings will start at 7:00 p.m. each night.  Refreshments will be served, and door prizes will be awarded at the end of each meeting.
Each FLEC member (customer-owner) who receives power from FLEC is encouraged to come to their district meeting to participate and get informed about the direction of their Cooperative.   District meetings are held once every 3 years in each of the eight membership districts.  District 2 includes parts of the Greenback, Lenoir City, Friendsville, Vonore, and Maryville communities in the Cooperative’s service area.  District 5 includes parts of the Greenback, Friendsville, and Maryville communities in the Cooperative’s service area.  District 8 includes parts of the Madisonville and Vonore communities in the Cooperative’s service area.  Each month’s bill from FLEC has the member’s district # annotated on it in the top portion of the bill.  When FLEC’s Board representation comes up for consideration in a district, a district meeting is held to allow for election of a Board Member, if there is contention.  This year no one came forward to qualify for the positions other than the incumbent directors.  This year’s meetings will allow the District Directors (Trustees) and FLEC’s staff to provide updates on the Cooperative.  We look forward to seeing the membership at these meetings.
Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative (FLEC) is a private, nonprofit corporation that has a vast service area which includes over 3,000 miles of power lines in portions of Monroe, Loudon and Blount Counties.  FLEC serves electricity to over 31,000 members.  FLEC is focused on providing safe, reliable electric power at the lowest cost, without discrimination or favoritism.  By doing this, FLEC is able to improve its membership’s standard of living and work with other agencies in promoting the over-all development of the area.
