Scam alert to all FLEC members

FLEC has learned today of a scam involving individuals who falsely claim to represent a collection company on behalf of FLEC. At least one or more of our members have been contacted by the individual. The scammers told the member they were delinquent on their electric bill and must buy a disposable credit card to pay the passed due balance. Please be advised this is a scam and please do not give out personal information over the phone to any individual with similar circumstances.

If you are passed due on an account and due to be disconnected for non-payment, FLEC will try to contact you with our automated system after normal business hours. Occasionally a FLEC employee may contact you regarding your account but only during normal business hours (Mon. – Fri. 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).  All payments by phone are made through the automated system for security purposes. FLEC will never request that you purchase a pre-paid credit card as a form of payment.

Please call FLEC if you receive any similar or other suspicious phone calls regarding your account.
