Local Student Scores Power Play Scholarship

Lauren Massingale of Madisonville has been awarded a $4,000 scholarship through a special program made possible through Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative (FLEC) and other local power companies across TVA’s seven-state service area.
Lauren, the daughter of Kevin Massingale, the Safety Coordinator for FLEC, and Shannon Massingale, is among 30 recipients of this year’s Power Play scholarship, provided by the Power Play Scholarship Association to recognize outstanding academic performance and a commitment to community service among high school seniors whose parents are employed by local power companies.
After graduating from Sequoyah High School, Lauren will be pursuing a degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  “We congratulate Lauren on receiving this scholarship, she was selected from 143 applicants to receive this honor.  She truly is a “bright light” from our area,” said Jarrod Brackett, FLEC’s CEO.
Since established in 1995, 638 Power Play scholarships have been awarded through contributions and fund-raising efforts by the Power Play Scholarship Association and its members from across the Tennessee Valley.
