FLEC Gives Back

Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative (FLEC) paid $771, 066 in Ad Valorem Tax to the six local governments in its services area for 2012.  This ad valorem tax is paid annually by FLEC to the local governments where it sells electricity or has power properties.
FLEC is honored to serve its membership and these annual tax collections help to serve its membership through local government projects.  The local governments that benefit from these taxes are Monroe, Loudon and Blount County governments as well as the municipalities of Vonore, Tellico, and Madisonville.  Each of these local governments distribute these funds at their discretion to support a variety of initiatives, such as schools, fire departments and other emergency response agencies, tourism, recreation, and other needs that they may face.
“This is just another way that FLEC helps to support economic development and the communities that we serve…a part of the FLEC mission to cooperate with other agencies in the over-all development of the area,” said Jarrod Brackett, FLEC’s General Manager/CEO.
