Election/District Meeting To Be Held in Tellico Plains

8/9/2017

The Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative (FLEC) will hold an election and district meeting on September 7, 2017, at the Tellico Plains Community Center on Bank Street in Tellico Plains to elect a board representative for its members in district 6. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for voting and continue through the business meeting at 7 p.m., unless candidates agree otherwise. Refreshments will be provided and door prizes will be given away following the business meeting to members participating in the elections. Members able to participate should receive notice by mail later this month.

Until the close of business on August 1, 2017, Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative (FLEC) accepted applications from individual members wishing to be considered for the position of director/trustee of the Cooperative’s Board; three (3) of the eight (8) district seats were open this year. After review of the applications for Director/Trustee by the Credentials Committee on August 7th, the applications of Doug McJunkin and Mike Wiggins were approved for consideration for the position of Director/Trustee of District 6. Although initially it appeared that another district might need a meeting, a candidate withdrew his name for consideration. This left only the incumbent directors as applicants in Districts 4 and 9. Last year, FLEC’s membership approved a change to the bylaws that calls for the Cooperative to not hold district meetings when only the incumbent directors apply by the prescribed deadline. Therefore, the Cooperative will not hold district meetings or elections in Districts 4 and 9 this year. Still, the Annual Membership Meeting will be held at Sequoyah High School in Madisonville on October 7th at 9:30 a.m.; please save this date in your calendar!
