Celebrating Arbor Day

9/25/2019

The new Vonore ball fields served as a fitting location for Fort Loudoun Electric Cooperative (FLEC) and the Town of Vonore to celebrate Arbor Day on September 19th. Two of the softball teams joined the celebration and presentation by FLEC to Vonore of a $3,000 check for tree replacement at the park. Vonore will use the funds to plant more shade trees and evergreen species around the park as it continues to develop. The Town of Vonore read a proclamation at their monthly meeting earlier this month marking the day as its "Arbor Day" and encouraged all in Town to set out a tree or two and acknowledge their beauty, multiple uses, and benefits to people. Mayor Lovingood and Councilwoman Betty Sparks stand in the center with Angela Tallent, FLEC's Secretary/Treasurer. FLEC does community tree replacement projects as part of their TreeLine USA designation when the community assists in promoting safety and removal of hazardous trees under / beside its power lines. Together...we have power and opportunity!
