Broadband Study Now Underway

FLEC Needs Your Input—The Rural Broadband Expansion Bill became law last month with passage by the 110th Tennessee General Assembly and the signing of the bill into law by Gover-nor Haslam. This new law allows Fort Loudoun Electric Cooper-ative (FLEC) members options in the area of broadband service now. "FLEC’s Board of Directors and management are seriously studying next steps," state Jarrod Brackett, FLEC’s CEO/ Gen-eral Manager.

FLEC’s next steps involve us gathering data and providing this feeback to the membership for discussion later this year. Brackett added, "FLEC has been discussing the necessary steps to provide broadband for some time now; FLEC has been studying multiple options to help provide broadband in unserved or underserved communities; but at this point, no firm decisions have been made." A comprehensive survey of the membership is underway now to pinpoint geographic areas of concern.

At the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors in May, the FLEC Board decided to conduct a comprehensive survey of the membership on the broadband expansion topic through billing inserts, various media links, and by word of mouth to the membership. Please complete the survey here and get it back to FLEC, we need your feedback to help us know what steps the Cooperative needs to take in the future. Also, by sending us your data you are automatically entered into a drawing for a prize. For every 500 surveys received between now and October 1, we will draw a survey out and the member listed on the form will receive a choice of an Apple iPad or $250 credit toward their bill. Each member is limited to one survey only.

Please help us to better understand the membership’s desires. Please complete your survey and send it to FLEC by:
